
Following a 20-year career in
Canada as a senior executive of small and large enterprises, Nikos returned to his native Greece where he assumed a number of senior positions in the Greek government, including two terms as Secretary General of the Hellenic Tourism Organisation (EOT), Chairman of the National Tourism Council, Alternate Minister of National Economy and Minister of Tourism.
In 1985 he founded the Leadership Laboratory, a centre for management and leadership training for middle-level managers and senior executives as well as for small business proprietors. The centre became a part of NSA SA when it was incorporated in 1995.
Supported by a team of experienced and competent associates with a high degree of specialisation in specific sectors, NSA, today, has a strong presence in the field of counselling and management and vocational training in such sectors as hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, food retailing, food distribution and franchising.
Career summary
During a time span of over 35 years,
Nikos has been heavily involved in all facets of food distribution in Canada and in Greece, including wholesale, retail, food service and franchising. For a substantial part of this long period he dedicated his energy to tourism, both in government service and the private sector.
He served the government of Greece, for a seven-year period, in various capacities including the position of Director of a task force for the rehabilitation of 'problematic
enterprises,' Secretary General of the Hellenic Tourism Organisation (EOT), Alternate Minister of National Economy and Minister of Tourism.
He has served as the first General Manager of MEGA Channel, Greece's first private television network, President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Olympic Cruises
(now known as Royal Olympia Cruises), Chairman of the Board of Astir Hotels, a prestigious Greek hotel chain,
Co-ordinator of the National Tourism Council, and Chairman of the Hellenic Centre for Investment (ELKE), an
Athens-based public interest corporation dedicated to the promotion and support of
foreign direct investment (FDI) in Greece.
For over 15 years he has directed the Leadership Laboratory, a management training laboratory which he
founded. He has written a number of books, articles and manuals on management, tourism and food distribution, of which Human Resource Administration and Development, co-authored with Ms. Kyriaki Economakis, is now in its sixth edition.
His latest book, The Manual of the Small and Medium Entrepreneur, published by the Greek publishing house Ellinika Grammata SA in November 2002, is already in its second edition.
He is the Alternate President of the Hellenic Academy of Taste and a former Vice President and founding member of 'Archestratos,' an association for the preservation of Greek gastronomic tradition. He was also the Chairman of the board of directors of 'Filaios' (the Friends of Olive Oil club).
