9. Looking into the Future
Wednesday, September 05, 2007
Within the next three years nine hotels will have opened in Düsseldorf granting 1,500 new rooms. For 2008 Düsseldorf expects three major hotel openings: The commencement will be set in December 2007 by the Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf, becoming the largest conference hotel in NRW with a combined event capacity of up to 5,000 people.

In May 2008 Breidenbacher Hof will re-open on the Königsallee with a 92-room luxury hotel, superb restaurants, exclusive retailers, offices and serviced residential apartments.

Finally, in September 2008, Mövenpick Hotel Düsseldorf will be welcoming guests. Besides guaranteeing its hallmark of culinary excellence, the new 4 star- business hotel will provide an extravagant fitness and wellness area.

After the successful Quadriennale 2006, an occasion on which all the major Düsseldorf art institutions together with the state capital Düsseldorf showed an outstanding series of exhibitions on the themes “Bodies”, it will be in 2010 that the next Quadriennale will take place - continuing the joint approach of these institutions of the visual art.

Poll
How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
