The second European Congress of Marinas has been schedules to be held in May of 2000 in the municipality of Lavreotiki, which has one of the largest marina<.>s in Greece. The conference is under the auspices of the Ministry of Development and the Hellenic National Tourism Organization. Delegates expected, are mayors from cities in Europe with marinas as well as from the private sector involved with yachting.
The first similar congress was held in Portugal in 1997, after which the European Union of Municipalities with Marinas was formed. A meeting of representatives of marinas in Greece is to be held in January in Athens to disseminate information about the forthcoming international meeting.
