TMS appoints MD for Asia
Wednesday, November 14, 2007
Travel and hospitality management specialist TMS Asia-Pacific has appointed Andrew Chan as Managing Director – Asia, effective immediately. Announcing the appointment TMS Chief Executive Officer Gary Marshall said Mr Chan, who steps up from his previous role as General Manager Asia, will now take full responsibility for all aspects of the company’s Asian operation.

Mr Marshall said a key element of Mr Chan’s new role would be a focus on the company’s development across the region, building on its Singapore base where TMS is now well established.

“In addition to Andrew’s management responsibilities, he will play an instrumental role in the design and execution of projects and other activity designed to strengthen the TMS brand in the region, including India,” Mr Marshall said.

Mr Chan’s promotion comes at a time when the company is experiencing rapid growth in the region. Building on its China presence in Shanghai, TMS opened a Hong Kong office in August. Plans in the pipe include a further office in Beijing in early 2008.

A Bangkok operation is also on schedule for an end of the year start-up.

Further afield TMS has this year expanded into the Middle East and New Zealand and last July strengthened its UK stance following the signing of a second major partnership agreement with London-based recruitment specialist Collins King & Associates.

The move also gained TMS its first entree into continental Europe via its new partner’s The Hague-based (Netherlands) associates.

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
