Radius to move forward under new stewardship
Monday, December 03, 2007
The global travel company Radius has announced the resignation of its President and Chief Executive Officer, Tony Hughes. Hughes, was the driving force behind its evolution from an agency network to global travel management company (TMC). Upon completion of meeting that objective, Hughes decided that now is a logical time for change.

The Radius Board of Directors have appointed Allan Slan, previously Executive Vice President as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer and have initiated an international search for a permanent replacement for Hughes.

During the six years in his role, Hughes guided Radius through a period of tremendous change, remodeling the organization from the association of travel management companies operating globally that he inherited to one that is now a well-established global TMC. As part of this transformation Hughes oversaw the creation of a wealth of new business practices within RADIUS including an effective multi-national corporate sales division along with its supporting infrastructure.

In thanking Hughes for his dedication to Radius and acknowledging his achievements, Chairman of the Board, Bill Tech commented, “We are extremely grateful to Tony for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors. Tony has left the Company with a well-defined, long-term strategy capable of seizing upon the multiple opportunities that are now open to it worldwide.”

Radius has the advantage of being able to call upon the services of Allan Slan to act as Interim President and CEO.

Slan, an attorney by training, has nearly fourteen years of service with Radius. With experience in many of the Company’s executive management roles Slan has been intimately involved in charting the strategic path of Radius in recent years.

In conclusion Tech emphasized, “The Company is stable in every material respect. Its stewardship is in professional hands and it is poised to rapidly spring forward to the benefit of its corporate clients and shareholders alike.”

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
