TFWA and Gate One join forces for networking event in Singapore
Thursday, December 06, 2007
TFWA Asia Pacific and Gate One will join forces to create a travel industry networking event to be staged in Singapore Suntec from 12th to 15th May 2008. The combined TFWA Asia Pacific and Gate One2One conference event, which replaces the Gate One conference, on Monday 12th May will take the form of a full-day conference and workshops programme for around 500 delegates with opportunities to meet with a wide range of commercial partners.

The conference event will be followed by the TFWA Asia Pacific duty free and travel retail exhibition which will be open for three full working days from Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th May with a broader selection of exhibitors than ever before.

The event on Monday 12th will offer a consolidated conference programme for all stakeholders in the travel industry – brands, airports, airlines, cruise & ferry companies, duty free & travel retail operators and other commercial partners - with a plenary session, high profile keynote address, professional interactive workshops on specific, topical issues and around 30 top-level speakers.

An intense marketing programme is underway to ensure that major global and regional airports are invited to attend the event which will also include business networking opportunities throughout the day and a series of delightful social events such as cocktails, the Singapore Swing Party and, for the first time, a pool party.

Additional networking opportunities will be offered within the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition: private & confidential suites in the 'One2One' lounge for meetings; pre-organised appointment schedules; Asia-Pacific Bar for drinks with colleagues after a busy day.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
