Congrex expands with Association Global Services
Monday, December 17, 2007
Association Global Services AG has joined forces with the international professional meeting and exhibition management services company, the Congrex Group. Association Global Services (AGS) was founded in 2000 by Mr Terrance Barkan, who firmly believed that Associations needed specialist services to assist them in achieving their day to day and strategic goals.

AGS has grown from strength to strength with some 45 permanent staff in 7 locations, including main offices in Brussels and Washington DC and regional offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney, Cape Town and Sao Paolo.

“We welcome AGS to Congrex, our combined strengths now representing the most global professional delivery option for Associations with representation in all corners of the world,” said Diana Feo Corao, Chairman of Congrex Holding BV.

Dr Layth Bunni CEO of the Congrex Group added “Our clients are demanding that we can offer not just the logistical know-how of delivering meetings, they want the advice of an expert on more strategic issues such as the structure and location of their Association, they want an expert to guide them to success. The new relationship with AGS now provides a complete Professional Service offering to Associations world wide”.

Terrance Barkan, AGS founder & CEO; “AGS will continue to operate as an independently managed company under the AGS name and brand. There will be no changes to staff or management of the company. What will change is that AGS joins more than 300 experienced colleagues in the Professional Congress Organization and IT Services field with a 25 year track record of success serving associations, corporations and governmental institutions in delivering quality conferences, exhibitions and events.”

“We now have representation on all 5 continents. Our combined 28 operational locations consequently include a major presence in the Americas, Asia, Australia, Africa and the United States, in addition to our solid foundation in Europe”, said Donald M. Hellstedt, Director of Congrex Holding BV.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
