IACA welcomes two new airline members
Thursday, December 20, 2007
Two new airlines, Air Via and Jordan Aviation, have joined the International Air Carrier Association (IACA) as full members. Sylviane Lust, Director General of the Association said: “IACA is delighted to welcome these two new airlines as they further widen the scope of our Association. We look forward to assisting and helping these members with a range of aeropolitical, operational and technical issues”.

Michael Donsky, Managing Director, Air Via added: “in view of the increasing number of European initiatives affecting leisure airlines, it is vital for us, especially as an airline based in a new EU member state, to have representation in Brussels. By joining IACA, Air Via hopes to maximise our influence on European regulators”.

Roland Taylor, MD Europe, Jordan Aviation Group commented: “as a totally privately owned airline supported by some 600 employees, it is important for us to have the ability to tap into the experience and ‘know how’ of other airlines facing similar operational and regulatory issues world wide. The strength of 39 airlines working together to resolve common problems is clearly more powerful than that of an airline acting alone against monopolies and unjustified issues within the airline business environment”.

Sylviane Lust continued: “IACA is looking forward to strengthening our membership in 2008 and continuing to safeguard the interests of our member airlines.”

The addition of Air Via and Jordan Aviation brings the membership of IACA to 39 airlines.

Poll
How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
