ARINC wins contract to continue its work at Montreal-Trudeau Airport
Friday, December 21, 2007
In highly competitive bidding, ARINC Incorporated has won a new $6.2 million contract to remain the primary provider of passenger systems and support at Montreal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. ARINC’s new customer is Aeroports de Montreal, which has overall airport responsibility. ARINC previously provided the airport systems and support under a contract with member airlines of the Montreal CUTE CLUB (CUTE Local Users Board).

ARINC will provide an increased total of 331 check-in workstations and 72 new SelfServTM check-in kiosks. ARINC Managed Services, LLC will continue to serve the airport with an expanded IT maintenance and support program.

“We sought a partner willing to work within our business model to advance technology for all airline customers at Montreal–Trudeau,” stated Reginald Jean-Gilles, Director, Information Technology. “Based on our favorable experience with ARINC, we are confident they will be fully responsive to our needs throughout the new contract.”

“ARINC is delighted to receive this vote of confidence from Aeroports de Montreal,” stated Mike Picco, ARINC Vice President, Airport Systems. “This validates our two-part approach—delivering the most advanced common-use technology, and supporting our customers through a professionally certified managed services organization.”

“I wish to acknowledge and thank everyone at ARINC involved in this project and the negotiations process, for their contribution, participation, and professionalism,” stated Michel Poitras, Assistant Director, Procurement, Aeroports de Montreal. “We have had many productive exchanges, and the result is certain to benefit both ADM and ARINC.”

“In 2002, the Montreal CLUB was among the first airports to name ARINC’s Managed Services group to provide on-site system maintenance and support. Their focus—like ours—has consistently been on customer satisfaction,” stated Jim L. Martin, Senior Director, ARINC Managed Services. “The airport’s steady growth from 200 to 350 workstations confirms their success. We are proud to continue our work here, and to count Aeroports de Montreal among our premier customers.”

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.
