Gate Gourmet renews catering contract with MyTravel Airways
Monday, December 31, 2007

Gate Gourmet has renewed a catering and provisioning services contract with one of its largest global accounts, charter carrier MyTravel Airways of Scandinavia. The multi-year agreement will account for the delivery of approximately 1 million meals annually in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, where Gate Gourmet employs about 500 people. In addition to catering, Gate Gourmet will continue to handle tax-free goods sold on board MyTravel flights.

“We are extremely pleased about the new contract, which will not only offer a more transparent relationship between our two companies, but also will open the door for innovative food concepts that will delight MyTravel passengers,” said Philippe Op de Beeck, Senior Vice President of Gate Gourmet’s Central Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

MyTravel Airways Director Tom Clausen said, “MyTravel Airways is the biggest charter company in Scandinavia and the world’s largest player in offering tax-free goods in the air. The new agreement creates an opportunity to introduce new meal concepts and improved quality.”

How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
