BAA disappointed from talks with workers
Monday, December 31, 2007

BAA is disappointed that talks with workers unions have not succeeded in resolving this dispute as a spokesman for BAA said. "As we have said throughout we believe the threat of industrial action is unnecessary because we have guaranteed that existing workers will not be affected by the change to the pension scheme."

"We gave further details of an improved guarantee to deal with issues raised by existing employees. We also provided more assurances about the highly competitive replacement defined contribution scheme," the spokesman continued.

"We will continue to do all we can to resolve this dispute since we believe that a strike would not be in the interests of our passengers or our staff," the BAA's spokesman concluded.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
