Veronica Crespo, a member of the NBTA Mexico Board and North America Travel Agency/Technology Manager, Hewlett-Packard Company, said, “I look forward to the NBTA Mexico Corporate Travel Conference next week, because I know it will be the most important business travel industry event of the year in Mexico. The first NBTA Mexico Corporate Travel Conference was hosted by NBTA in January 2007, before the formation of NBTA Mexico. The great success of that event led to the formation of NBTA Mexico later in the year. NBTA Mexico was launched in July 2007 and now acts as organizer for the NBTA Mexico Corporate Travel Conference as well as other events to serve the Mexican corporate travel management community.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
