South African LCC launches online travel packaging operation

kulula.com, the South African low cost carrier has expanded its online travel offering with the launch of Kulula Holidays, an online dynamic packaging travel operation using RWA’s Sell-It Suite reservation system, a first for the South African online travel booker.

The Sell-It Suite system provides Kulula with the ability to create fixed and dynamic packages consisting of hotel and other ground products combined with Kulula’s own flights said the carrier. The Sell-It Suite system integrates directly with Kulula’s flight reservation system for access to real-time flight availability within the travel package offering, including pricing and booking. Kulula is using Sell-It’s Inventory Manager to load and manage hotel contracts, car rental agreements and insurance products. Business rules set up inside Inventory Manager determine how these ground products can be combined with Kulula flights to generate the Kulula Holidays offers.

Commenting on their selection of Sell-It Suite, Iain Meaker, Head of Travel and Distribution at Kulula stated, “We did our homework in this regard. The Sell-It system gives us the ability to present a brochure of product that our customers can browse across a number of decision variables. The beauty is, once presented with the many pricing, hotel and length of stay options, customers can then immediately book. The system does all of this exceptionally quickly and efficiently. The systems automation front and back has allowed so many labour intensive processes to be fully automated, allowing us to focus on what really matters, content, pricing and products. We have a small and focussed team managing a big business.”
