The Hotusa Group opens boutique hotel in Mexico City and buys another in Jerez
Wednesday, February 06, 2008
The Hotusa Group has just opened its third establishment in Mexico City, the five-star Eurostars Suites Reforma, thereby consolidating its presence in Mexico where the Group has another two resort hotels on the Riviera Maya. In addition, the company has also purchased its first hotel in the province of Cadiz, the four-star Guadalete Hotel.

The company has completely renovated the Mexican building, purchased in July 2006, to adapt it to Eurostars Hotels standards. It has 36 spacious suites of over 40 square metres, decorated in a combination of colonial and contemporary classic styles. The Eurostars Suites Reforma is very close to the other hotel belonging to the hotel chain in Mexico City, the Eurostars Zona Rosa Suites, in this way complementing perfectly each other’s rooming availability.

The Chairman of the Hotusa Group, Amancio López Seijas asserts that: “Both establishments are conceived, primarily, to satisfy the requirements of business people who need to spend lengthy stays in Mexico City”.

The Hotusa Group’s presence in Mexico is completed with the five-star Hotel Suites San Marino, also located in the capital and two additional holiday complexes: the five-star Eurostars Blue Tulum Resort & Spa, in Tulum, and the five-star Hotel Vista Real, on Carmen Beach.

López also stated that, “On the medium term, we are not discarding the idea of enlarging our portfolio in Mexico, whether in the form of urban hotels or holiday establishments, provided they are small in size and give top-quality service”.

The first hotel in Cadiz

On the other hand, the company has purchased the four-star Guadalete Hotel, a 137-roomed establishment with a convention centre capable of catering for 1,000 persons and which is very close to the IFECA trade fair and exhibition hall.

This Jerez hotel is the first to be run by the company in the province of Cadiz and fourteenth in the region of Andalusia.

López added that, “Andalusia is a destination that we consider of great importance because of its attraction for tourists who wish to enjoy the food and the varied cultural options, such as business-related tourism, a segment which is becoming increasingly more significant in cities like Seville, Cordova or Granada”.

The imminent privatization of Olympic Airlines is expected to change the fate of this debt-laden airline. What do you think the new owner should do in regard to the brand name of the Greek national flag carrier?.

Keep “Olympic Airlines” as the name of the company as it remains a strong brand.

The company should keep “Olympic” as an element of its name but refresh the brand (e.g. “New Olympic Airlines”).

The airline should drop “Olympic” from its name. This brand has lost its value and isn’t relevant to the market anymore.
