US Airways launches new flight between Philadelphia and Vancouver
Tuesday, February 12, 2008
Another non-stop transcontinental option will be offered by US Airways this summer when the carrier begins new seasonal service between its international gateway at Philadelphia International Airport and Vancouver, British Columbia. Flights are scheduled to begin June 3 and run through Sept. 2, utilizing Airbus A319 aircraft in a 124-seat configuration. This new flight complements US Airways' existing service to Vancouver from its Las Vegas (one daily roundtrip) and Phoenix (two daily roundtrips) hubs.

US Airways' Senior Vice President, Schedule Planning and Alliances Andrew Nocella, said, "We're committed to growing both domestic and international service from our Philadelphia hub and new seasonal Vancouver service is a testament to that end. Vancouver customers will have great connecting opportunities within the U.S. and beyond, where Philadelphia customers will have another non-stop option to the North American west coast."

"We are pleased to be able to offer our customers another non-stop transcontinental option this summer. The connection between Philadelphia and Vancouver further underscores our commitment to growing our Gateway and providing more choice to our traveling public," says Larry Berg, president and CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
