Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels scoops two ALIS awards
Wednesday, February 13, 2008
Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels announced that the firm was recognized with two awards at the 2008 ALIS conference. The sale of the Maui Prince Hotel Makena was the winner of the 2007 Single Asset Transaction of the Year Award. The $575M transaction was the largest single asset hotel sale of the year and the second largest in history. The sale included the 310-room Maui Prince Hotel, two 18-hole, Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed Makena Golf Courses, approximately 1,317 acres of vacant land, and the stock of Makena Wastewater Corp.

Furthermore, Arthur Adler, managing director & CEO for Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, was named the 2007 Jack A. Shaffer Financial Advisor of the Year. Adler has been a leading hotel advisor for over 25 years and has established himself as a trusted advisor to many top leaders of major hotel companies, owners and investors. At Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, Adler has expanded the Americas business over the last eight years from 12 people to over 80. The firm now has offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Houston, Charlotte, Phoenix, and Seattle.

“It’s truly an honor to be recognized at ALIS with the Financial Advisor of the Year Award that is named for Jack Shaffer,” said Adler“Having worked directly with Jack for several years, this award is extremely meaningful because of the passion that he had for the business and the way in which Jack worked with both his sellers and buyers to put transactions together.”

“Even more exciting was that Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels won the Single Asset Transaction of the Year Award for the Makena deal, which Art Buser skillfully arranged,” said Adler. “It’s fantastic that our entire team was acknowledged for all they have accomplished; we’re all truly grateful for this important recognition.”

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
