ITB Supply: on course for continued success
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Following its successful launch in 2006 ITB Supply is now well established as a platform for suppliers to the tourism sector at the ITB Berlin. This year this section will feature 30 exhibitors with a varied range of products for the tourism sector at the leading event for the world’s travel industry. They will include the suppliers of hotel fittings and furnishings, equipment for spas and wellness facilities, and for guests.

Potential customers from home and abroad can also see technical installations, workwear, printed matter and menus, indoor and outdoor advertising, promotional gifts, digital media productions and web-based solutions, signs and name tags, organisational materials, magazine subscription services and the specialised services provided by event organisers.

From the finest materials to the latest environmental technology

The latest trends in exclusive hotel fittings and furnishings are being exhibited by the internationally renowned fabric manufacturer JAB ANSTOETZ. Its elegant furnishings, high quality fabrics and opulent designs make a vital contribution to creating a perfect ambience in many hotels around the world. Mt. Sapola is a supplier of the finest quality essences for spas, which are extracted from natural products such as hand-picked herbs and flowers in accordance with Thailand’s long tradition of bathing to promote health and well-being, making them perfect for today’s wellness trend in hotels.

With its “Bodybuffy” the company Hot Chili + D.A.R.T. is setting new standards in fitness. The Streetstepper is the ideal item of equipment for business travellers or for people taking short breaks, who want to keep fit with the minimum expense.

Sofortuberweisung.de is a quick and uncomplicated online payment system from Payment Network. Customers who do not have a credit card handy when booking their travel can use this system to make an automated transfer directly from a travel agency. The payment transaction takes only seconds, and confirmation of the reservation is obtained just as quickly.

ITB Supply also features some innovative products that are used behind the scenes. The flexible AQUAmax sewage system can meet all the requirements of hotels and resorts of all sizes, guaranteeing careful use of water resources. Printing, scanning, copying, e-mailing and sending faxes are all part of the smooth-running communication process essential to all tourism companies. OKI Printing Solutions specialises in providing professional printing solutions and output management, and can offer complete packages for high quality in-house colour printing which are specially tailored to meet the needs of the tourism sector.

The ideal setting for the ITB Supply section

The wide range of products and services offered by the suppliers in this section will be of be of interest to trade visitors and exhibitors at the ITB Berlin, who represent every stage in the added value chain in the tourism industry. This is an ideal opportunity for hotel managers, tour operators, travel agents and their counter staff, tourism organisations journalists and travel managers to learn more about the products and services that are available. Exhibitors at the ITB Berlin will be well placed to set up contracts with partners and suppliers.

ITB Supply can be found at the heart of the ITB Berlin, in Hall 7.1c. There will be no shortage of visitors, due to its proximity to the stands of international hotel chains, carriers and other tourism-related companies in Halls 8.1 and 9. With its many outstanding technical papers and speakers, the ITB Convention in the adjacent Halls 7.1a and 7.1b is also a magnet for trade visitors and hotel managers, who are becoming of increasing importance for the supply sector. The subject of “Challenges facing the hotel sector”, for example, will be dealt with during the Hospitality Day on Thursday, 6 March 2008.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
