US Airways adds three new transcontinental routes

US Airways ramps up its summer schedule with three new transcontinental routes. Beginning on June 3, the airline will begin new nonstop service from its two largest hubs at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport to California's capital city of Sacramento. US Airways will also start service from its Charlotte hub to Tucson, Ariz.
US Airways' Senior Vice President, Schedule Planning and Alliances Andrew Nocella said, "During the busy summer travel season we're giving customers in Sacramento and Tucson nonstop access to our two largest hubs, opening up hundreds of connecting opportunities across the eastern half of the United States and to Europe and the Caribbean."
"We are thrilled with the addition of these two great cities to our non-stop service here in Sacramento," said G. Hardy Acree, director of airports for the Sacramento County Airport System. "We have a great working partnership with US Airways and we are confident that our travelers will embrace these two new flight opportunities."
"Charlotte is an important destination for Tucson travelers, and opens up the southeast sector of the U.S. for us. We are delighted to have this new nonstop service and know the residents of this community will be very supportive of it," said Tucson Airport Authority President/CEO Bonnie Allin.
