Eastern Airways launches flights from Stansted to Manchester
Friday, February 29, 2008
Eastern Airways introduced additional flights from London Stansted to Manchester. The UK regional airline, which reintroduced services to Manchester after Air Berlin withdrew from the route in October 2007, will increase flights from three to four each week day from 7 April 2008.

Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways’ chief operating officer said: “We are further enhancing our business schedules, offering commuters greater choice, convenience and flexibility to help them make the best use of day trips. Along with these additional services we have introduced great value one way fares on the route, which will also appeal to those travelling for leisure purposes.”

BAA Stansted’s business development and planning director, Nick Barton, said: “We are delighted with the news that Eastern Airways is increasing services on this important Manchester route. Manchester is a key city for business and leisure travellers and this latest development is a welcome addition to our network of over 160 destinations throughout Europe and the world.”

With up to 20 flights a week from Stansted to Manchester, the service is aimed at both business and leisure travellers heading for Manchester city centre, Cheshire, North Wales, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cumbria.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
