ACTA Manitoba and Nunavut’s Regional Council has a new Chair
Friday, March 21, 2008

At a regional council meeting held recently in Winnipeg, Philip Houde was elected Chair of Manitoba and Nunavut’s Regional Council replacing Melanie Carter. ACTA thanked Melanie for the time and effort she has contributed during her term as Chair of the Manitoba/Nunavut Regional Council.

Philip joined the ACTA Regional Council in 2005 and initiated the review of the cruise fuel surcharge. He also chairs the Human Resources Committee. As Chair, Philip Houde now represents the Manitoba and Nunavut regions on the ACTA Board of Directors and we would like to welcome him.

Philip holds several accreditations such as the CTM, CATS and CSS designations. He has also worked for the Manitoba Provincial Government. In 2002, Philip and his wife purchased River East Travel & Cruise Center – a full-service travel agency established since 1979.

Poll
How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
