Association of Corporate Travel Executives
ACTE names new Asia-Pacific Chair
Friday, March 21, 2008

The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has named Georgie Farmer, Asia-Pacific Travel Services Manager, Microsoft Corporation, as its new regional chair for the Asia-Pacific region. Ms. Farmer directs the company's corporate travel category in one of the fastest growing international regions of the world.

Ms. Farmer assumes the ACTE leadership role from Mike Bezer, Vice President Global Sales Asia-Pacific, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, who served two full terms as chair. Part of her focus will be to increase participation in ACTE educational and professional development initiatives among those in the Asia-Pacific corporate travel industry, while bringing to the forefront those issues which are of keen interest to both buyers and suppliers.

"ACTE is pleased to announce the appointment of Georgie Farmer as the new regional chair for the Asia-Pacific region," Susan Gurley, ACTE Global Executive Director, said. "With Georgie in this key position, ACTE will continue to ensure that the corporate travel managers' collective voice is heard in this dynamic market."

"ACTE's high quality education programmes have made it a catalyst for finding solutions and professional development opportunities for managers of corporate travel operating across the Asia-Pacific region," Ms. Farmer said. "ACTE's strength is found in its intellectual capabilities and professional integrity, an absolute necessity to objectively address global, regional and local issues in corporate travel management."

Ms. Farmer is an active member of ACTE, having spoken at the 2007 Asia-Pacific Education Conference and Executive Forums. She also served as a member of the 2006 Asia-Pacific Education Conference's steering committee.

Poll
How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
