Hotusa Hotels adds new associated establishments to its portfolio
Friday, April 04, 2008

Hotusa Hotels has enlarged its portfolio during the past month of March with the addition of 25 new associated establishments, by means of which it reaffirms its privileged position amongst the major hotel consortia world-wide. Of these 25 establishments associated with the chain, 13 form part of its international network while the remaining 12 are to be found spread over Spanish territory.

As detailed in the attached table, the 13 hotels which have joined the chain outside Spain are to be found in France (10 establishments), Argentina (1), Italy (1) and Morocco (1). With regard to Spain, Hotusa Hotels has added to its list establishments in Andalusia (4), the Community of Valencia (3), Catalonia (2), Madrid (2) and Aragon (1).
The organization’s objective is to enlarge and diversify its portfolio with the addition of establishments in both the traditional destinations as well as in the emergent tourist markets on a world-wide scale.

In this context, the company has added to the list, at the beginning of 2008, its first associated hotels in India and Colombia, as a follow-up to the strategy deployed throughout 2007 when it made its entry into marketplaces such as The Balkans, Mozambique, Cuba, Venezuela and China. Hotusa Hotels has plans to continue expansion on the continent of Asia over the following months, with new additions in China - given the enormous tourist interest that this destination arouses as host to the 2008 Olympic Games – as well as in India and other South-East Asian countries.

The Hotusa Group recently acquired the chain of independent establishments, Elysees West Hotels (EWH), with 92 associated hotels in France and which turns Hotusa Hotels into one of the main operators in France, with a portfolio containing more than 200 establishments.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
