Significant changes to traffic situation on departure level at Brussels Airport
Wednesday, April 09, 2008

After the Easter holidays the departure curb, the area in front of the terminal where passengers are dropped off by car, will be drastically reorganised as Brussels Airport stated. The access road and the curb will be thoroughly renovated. Brussels Airport uses the opportunity to upgrade the entire zone and make it more efficient, more welcoming and safer.

"To ensure the smooth running of daily operations at the airport, it is essential that this area remains accessible throughout the renovation works. This is why work will be carried out in different stages, so that certain parts of this area remain open to traffic, while others are being renovated. Weather permitting, the preliminary work will start on 10 April. As of 21 April the present passenger drop-off area will be closed."

A temporary drop-off area will then be available further down the road, in the bend just past the airport terminal. However, this area will only provide about half the number of drop-off spaces available today. Stopping in front of the terminal itself will no longer be possible.

The first stage of the work will last until the start of the construction industry holidays in July. Renovation of the total departure area is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

"Passengers who are dropped off at the airport by a private vehicle are advised to use the ample parking facilities in the car parks opposite the terminal. The departures level is easily accessible from any of these car parks. The use of public transport can also be an alternative for departing passengers."

As a result of the renovation works, the access to P1 (Front Park 1) on departures level that is located opposite the terminal will regularly have to be closed. This car park, as well as all others, will of course still be accessible via their main access on the airport access road or via the arrivals level.
