Eastern Airways launches non-stop Newcastle-Stavanger service
Wednesday, April 16, 2008

UK regional airline, Eastern Airways, will now introduce its first non-stop service from Newcastle International Airport to Stavanger. The carrier will start the new daily non-stop weekday service on 12 May 2008. The carrier previously provided a link from Newcastle to Stavanger via Aberdeen.

This latest announcement by the carrier demonstrates its commitment and expansion of services from Newcastle following the recent increase in weekday flights to Aberdeen with six a day, Southampton to four a day and Cardiff to three a day.

“This is major milestone in the development of our Newcastle services,” said Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways’ chief operating officer. “After initially establishing a connecting service via Aberdeen, which showed there was demand for daily services between north east England and Stavanger, business travellers will now be able to make significant time savings with our new, convenient non-stop flights from Newcastle.”

Newcastle International Airport’s chief executive, Dave Laws, said: “We know this direct flight will prove very popular and help further expand business links between the North East and Norway.  Eastern Airways make an important contribution to the development of the region through offering frequent flights to key destinations and we are delighted this new service will make it easier to travel between the North East and Stavanger.”

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
