Record rebookings for EIBTM 2008
Thursday, April 17, 2008

Following the success of EIBTM 2007, a record number of exhibitors have rebooked their stands for this year’s event in Barcelona at the Fira Gran Via from 2nd-4th December 2008. A substantial number have also secured extra space, highlighting the event’s reputation in the international meetings industry calendar and confirming EIBTM as a leading business platform.

One such example is from Turkish Culture & Tourism taking an extra 140 sqm, while the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has confirmed an extra 127 sqm, increasing their stand space by over 30%. Munich, following its first ever participation at EIBTM last year with stand-alone representation, has already anticipated increased interest by expanding its stand size by 25%. Other exhibitors increasing their stand size include Peru, Croatia, Taiwan, Australia, India, Fairmont Hotels, Exotissimo, Kempinski, Husa, Hungary, HRS, Warwick Hotels, Turisme de Cataluyna and Barcelo Hotels and Resorts.

Handan Bryce, General Manager Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau comments: “EIBTM is a great place for generating business, networking and catching up with colleagues from all around the world. As a result of positive feedback and increasing requests from our industry partners in Turkey, the Directorate of Culture & Tourism of Turkey in Spain has confirmed the expansion of the Turkey Stand from 360sqm to 500sqm. We look forward to meeting the world.”

New exhibitors already confirmed include the Valencia Convention Bureau, Rodos Tours and Sharjah.

Mandy Torrens, Exhibition Director for EIBTM comments: “We are delighted that so many exhibitors are confirming their attendance at the event so early.  This is a direct result of the business generated by exhibitors at last year’s event, and 2008 will be no exception.”

Poll
How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
