City of Perth launches new visitor kits
Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Finding out what to do and see while in Perth has never been easier with the release of a new City of Perth Visitor Kit, created specifically for conference organisers, delegates and business visitors. In 2007, the City of Perth provided tourism brochures and visitor information to over 20,000 visiting conference delegates.

The new Visitor Kits, which will be made available to conference delegates at no cost, improves upon the City’s commitment to providing tourist information by meeting the specific needs of visiting delegates.

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the new Visitor Kits provide visiting delegates with greater opportunities to discover the lifestyle opportunities that exist for people doing business in Perth.

“The natural beauty that surrounds the City of Perth has always ensured the city is a favourite destination for tourists and visitors alike, “she said.

“With Perth’s increasing importance as an economic hub in the region, the City is hosting more conferences and delegates than ever before.

“We hope the new Visitor Kit will assist conference delegates to explore more of the city and its venues, arts and culture, or simply enjoying a coffee on King Street between meetings – things that we may take for granted, but don’t necessarily end up on a traditional tourist brochure,” Scaffidi said.

The new Visitor Kits have been produced in consultation with the Perth Convention Bureau to provide information that meets the needs of conference delegates.

The Visitor Kit consist of a series of fact sheets and a map that covers everything from venue locations and city attractions to transport and general information such as bank hours, internet access and postal services.

Perth Convention Bureau Marketing Manager Anne Last said the City of Perth Visitor Kits will be a great resource for conference delegates.

“While there are many maps and tourist guides floating around Perth, this kit has information that is specific to delegates as well as showing all of the major hotels and venues in the CBD area,” Last said.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
