Change at the Head of corporate responsibility for Kuoni
Thursday, April 24, 2008

Kuoni and Fausta Borsani, Head of Corporate Responsibility, are to part company in view of differences over the implementation of the company’s corporate responsibility strategy. Fausta Borsani has successfully established and developed Kuoni’s Corporate Responsibility unit and its activities over the past two years. She will be succeeded by Matthias Leisinger, who is currently in charge of Environmental Affairs at Kuoni Switzerland.

Kuoni established its Corporate Responsibility department in 2006 to pay particular regard to sustainability issues within the tourist travel sector throughout the Kuoni Group. Fausta Borsani has successfully developed the department and its activities over the past two years. The milestones in this process have included Kuoni’s signing of The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism and various pioneering projects to maintain favourable local working conditions within the tourism sector, to protect water resources at destinations and to minimise the impact of tourist travel activities on climate change.

These endeavours have had a wide range of successful results, including contractually committing all partner hotels to observe certain ethical rules. Kuoni has also been steadily and sustainably developing its environmental management: to take one example, Kuoni customers in Switzerland, Austria and the UK can now voluntarily offset the carbon emissions caused by their air travel activities.

The Group Executive Board thanks Fausta Borsani for all her work and service, and wishes her every further success and satisfaction. She will be succeeded as Head of Corporate Responsibility by Matthias Leisinger, currently Environmental Affairs Officer at Kuoni Switzerland, who will assume his new duties on July 1. The Kuoni Group’s ongoing corporate responsibility projects will all be continued.

Poll
How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
