St. Lucia to promote travel & tourism opportunities with TourismROI
Thursday, May 08, 2008

In a move designed to present its Travel & Tourism management information and investment opportunities to the local, regional and global marketplace, St. Lucia has signed up as a destination subscriber on the new TourismROI website, according to Minister for Tourism, Senator the Honorable Allen Chastanet, speaking at the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference in Trinidad.

TourismROI is the first centralized resource for Travel & Tourism management and investment information worldwide. As destinations, investors, developers and operators around the world increasingly realize the economic benefits and growth potential of Travel & Tourism the challenge lies in bringing them all together.  TourismROI provides one central location for public and private sector entities looking to attract partners for development and for investors, business operators and entrepreneurs seeking new business opportunities.

St. Lucia joins Aysen, Chile; Montenegro; the Kingdom of Tonga; Uzbekistan; Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA; Kansas City, Missouri, USA, and the State of Colorado, USA as one of the early adopters of the TourismROI service.

Commenting on his country’s participation as a TourismROI destination subscriber, Minister for Tourism, Senator the Honourable Allen Chastanet said: ”As St. Lucia’s tourist industry continues to evolve and expand there is a need for us to invite our local operators as well as investors and developers from around the world to assist us in the development.  TourismROI gives us one central place to present our B2B information and investment opportunities to all participants.”

The St. Lucia Government has identified a number of priority investment areas for tourism, including construction of accommodation; the development and marketing of Natural Heritage sites, and the creation of new attractions and entertainment centers for visitors.

Acknowledging St. Lucia’s participation, Richard Miller, CEO & Managing Partner of TourismROI, said: “TourismROI will enable St. Lucia to promote its tourism opportunities to a broad base of interested and active investors worldwide, increasing the country’s competitive advantage and the probability of successfully attracting new investment.”

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
