Travel Alliance Partners releases 2007 travel metrics
Friday, May 09, 2008

TAP released 2007 Travel Metrics, a comprehensive report that tracks and reports TAP Operators tour activities and their economic impact to destination marketing organizations across the country. Travel Metrics is a collaborative effort among the 32 member tour operators.

This program provides the number of “tour days” in each destination; a calculation using the “petty index” is used to determine the economic impact of TAP to specific destinations. TAP is the only national tour and travel organization that has successfully tracked and delivered this data.

In 2008, TAP has taken the next step forward by including a list of “end-user” tour operators along with tracking reports.

This additional information shapes marketing plans and future investments for destination marketing organizations on state and regional levels.  “This is the type of information we have been clamoring for in the industry. It enables us to determine the point of origin for our business and where to develop new markets” said Terese Balzereit, Pennsylvania’s Director of Tourism “TAP delivers concrete, usable data that is not available through other mechanisms.”

This year, TAP Operators generated 281,000 room nights using over 2000 hotels in US and Canada representing 28 million dollars in hotel revenue.  “As TAP continues to grow, we anticipate the numbers to become significant” stated Jim Palmeri, Managing Director of TAP. “We are adding marketing programs targeting new markets to sell tours and generate a strongreturn on our partner’s investment”

How is the use of biofuels by the aviation industry going to affect the environment?

It will be a positive step towards fighting climate change, as the aviation industry will be able to reduce its C02 emissions.

It will be positive for the environment but it will cause huge problems in other industries such as the food industry, especially in food supply.

It will have a negative impact as the widespread planting and use of biofuel crops could threaten the natural ecosystems.

It will harm the environment as carbon savings from biofuels are negligible.
