Hotusa Hotels adds 58 new associated hotels during April
Monday, May 12, 2008

Hotusa Hotels has enlarged its portfolio during this past month of April with the addition of 58 new associated establishments. This figure reasserts the chain’s positioning amongst the major hotel groups worldwide. Of these 58 associated establishments, 40 form part of its international network, with the remainder spread over Spanish territory.

The chain’s international list has been enlarged with additions in France (24), Italy (6), Portugal (4), Czech Republic (2), as well as Argentina (1), Cuba (1) and Panamá (1). With regard to Spain, the chain of independent hotels has added to the list establishments in Catalonia (6), Madrid (5), Andalusia (2), Community of Valencia (2), plus Asturias (1), Balearic Islands (1) and Murcia (1). Also worthy of special note is the fact that in France, the Hotusa Group has recently acquired the chain of independent hotels Elysées West (EWH).

April has also been the month in which Hotusa Hotels disembarked in Panama, with the inclusion of its first associated hotel in the capital of that country. It is the Hotel Centroamericano, an establishment eminently modern and functional in style and design, with 61 guestrooms and a wide range of services which, combined with its excellent location, turns it into a perfect option for leisure and business trips in Panama City. Located in an important business and shopping area, it is surrounded by important embassies, banks offices and multinational companies.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
