Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has recently launched a new, completely flexible fare structure on its intercontinental services to Europe. The new fare structure is available for sale via all global distribution systems (GDS) immediately.
The new non-seasonal fare structure offers complete combinability between all service cabins and booking classes on the one round-trip ticket said the carrier. It is spread across its three classes – Business, Economy Extra and Economy – and divided into three ticket types: Fully Flexible, Flexible and Fixed. "For example customers can fly one way to Europe on a Fully Flexible Business fare and return on a Fixed Economy fare", says Lars Olofsson, General Manager, SAS Australia & New Zealand. "Plus all our fares are available for sale year round, which means prices no longer fluctuate according to the date of departure."
"We have noticed a strong need for greater flexibility amongst both leisure and business travellers and our new fares have been created to offer our customers greater choice," says Olofsson,”Now travellers can create their own tailor-made itineraries, mixing fares and classes in both directions to fully suit their needs. Offering these new fares in the published GDS environment also makes it an easier process for consultants, from the quotation stage right through to ticketing ".
The first new published fares will replace the SAS nett fares with Star Alliance and code-share partner THAI. Fully Flexible Business Class return to Europe starts at AUD5, 400 gross, Fixed Economy return starts from AUD1, 840 gross and Fixed Combination fares return from AUD3, 000 gross. All fare types are commissionable at 9% until 31 MAY 2008, changing to 7% from 01 June.
