ARINC renews contract for passenger tech at Australia’s Melbourne Airport
Thursday, May 22, 2008

ARINC Incorporated announced its long-time customer, the Melbourne Australia CUTE Club, has renewed and upgraded ARINC’s contract for common-use passenger systems at Melbourne Airport. ARINC will continue to provide its iMUSETM common-use platform for passenger check-in and boarding at Melbourne, as well as the ARINC BagLinkTM baggage messaging system. The renewed contract covers a five-year period.

“ARINC’s iMUSE and BagLink technologies have served us well for the past five years, and we expect they will continue to meet our needs as requirements expand,” stated Seamus Hill, Chairman of the MEL CUTE Club. “New system capabilities under this contract will provide even more advanced, secure, and stable common-use operations to meet our growing needs in this rapidly evolving industry.”

“Melbourne Airport will soon benefit from cutting-edge technologies such as support for wireless connectivity and simplified 2D barcode printing of boarding passes, as well as enhanced operational abilities and security,” stated Randy Pizzi, ARINC Vice President and Managing Director, Asia/Pacific. “ARINC is gratified by this renewal award, and very pleased with the confidence MEL CUTE Club places in our services.”

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
