Greece - Times best destination 2nd award
Monday, June 30, 2008
GreeceGreek National Tourism Organisation announced that Greece was voted runner up in The Sunday Times Travel Magazine’s “Readers’ Awards 2008” on the Best European Country category.

Greece is placed as Best European holiday destination, second only to Italy.

According to the magazine’s readers’ opinion, over a poll running for the past 12 months, Greece is a country of warm, genuine and friendly people. A county you love for its ‘white hot sands’ and ‘laid-back vibe’.

Among the top five of the list, is France and Spain, that along with the very positive comments faced some particularly negative ones, and Switzerland, described as a clean country with some amazing mountains.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
