New Mexico Tourism Commission Meeting coincides with Inter-Tribal Ceremonial in Gallup
Monday, August 04, 2008
The New Mexico Tourism Commission will meet August 8, 2008, 10 a.m. to noon, in the Hospitality Suite at Red Rock State Park east of Gallup off Interstate-40. The meeting and location coincides with one of New Mexico’s major summer events, the 87th annual Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, which runs August 6-10, 2008 in Gallup – complete with Indian art sales and exhibits, tribal dances, the All-Indian Rodeo, parades, rug auctions, Pow-Wow and Indian Art Village.

Since 1922, the people of Gallup have been proud to present the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial each summer. Events run from Wednesday through Sunday.

The purpose of the Tourism Commission meeting is to update commissioners on Tourism Department activities, and to gather tourism industry ideas on how both the commission and the department might enhance the state’s tourism effort.

The Governor-appointed Tourism Commission includes Chairman Al Lucero (Santa Fe), Deidre A. Lujan (Albuquerque), Ted Garcia (Albuquerque), Chris Stagg (Taos Ski Valley), Randy Randall (Santa Fe), Selena Chino (Mescalero), and Bill Hirschfeld (Ruidoso).

The meeting agenda includes presentations by Tourism Commission members, Tourism Department Secretary Michael Cerletti, and Evan Williams, senior planner with the Gallup Tourism Coalition. The commission will also take questions and comments from attendees.

The New Mexico Tourism Department supports the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and encourages individuals with disabilities to attend and participate in this meeting.
