Monday, August 18, 2008
The Union of International Associations (UIA) International Meeting Statistics Report was released on August 12th and saw Lisbon ranked 12th most popular city in the world with 104  international meetings held in the year 2007.

The Union of International Associations (UIA), founded in 1907 is the world’s oldest, biggest and most comprehensive source of information on global civil society. Databases and publications cover many aspects of international organizations – their history, organization and meetings, and the problems and methods with which they work.

Lisboa Convention Bureau markets Lisboa as a prime destination for congresses, meetings, events, incentives and business travel in general.

Besides impartial advice and assistance to event organisers, LCB's services include bid preparation, co-ordination of site inspections, ideas for social programs and identification of suitable venues for events.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
