The Radisson SAS Waterfront hotel welcomes new General Manager
Monday, September 08, 2008
Michele Somers has been appointed as the new General Manager of the Radisson SAS Waterfront Hotel in Jersey. Somers, who boasts an impressive 20 years experience in the hotel and hospitality market, has played an instrumental role within the Rezidor group over the last ten years, supporting the groups new openings in the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Joining the 4 star hotel this week, Somers comes to Jersey from the Radisson SAS Portman in London’s West End.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at the Radisson SAS Waterfront Hotel. We are fast approaching our first full year of business and the hotel is going from strength to strength. The next 12 months will be an exciting time for the hotel and will see us further develop our position as a fantastic business and leisure destination in the UK” commented Somers.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
