In advance of the unveiling of the £27million redevelopment of Epsom Downs Racecourse a new 120 bedroom Holiday Inn Express has been opened this week as one of the first on-site hotels for a racecourse in the UK.  Situated alongside the Queen’s Stand, with dramatic views of the historic Downs and London, this new facility is expected to add considerably to the meetings, exhibitions and events that are staged at the course.

“Our conference and business events are a key part of our non-racing business.  There has been considerable demand for overnight accommodation that has previously meant taking guests off site.  Now we can offer planners and organisers a new dimension to their events so that networking can continue after a full day at an event, and everyone gets great views over The Downs or London ”, says Nick Blofeld, Managing Director of Epsom Downs Racecourse.

The Holiday Inn Express is a bright, contemporarily designed property and all 120 rooms have en suite bathrooms, internet access, satellite TV, pay for movies, a work desk, and tea and coffee making facilities.  The room rate, which starts at £79 per night, includes complimentary continental breakfast.  A lounge area with licensed bar also offers guests a bar menu for evening meals. Group bookings and special seasonal rates will also be available.

The new Grandstand, which opens for business in April 2009, will provide the industry with capacities for up to 800 guests, pillar free exhibition space, additional suites for meetings and more private hospitality boxes.  With unlimited free parking and an 18 hole golf course opposite, event planners and delegates have a range of  new business and leisure facilities within one of the South of England’s newest venues.
