Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of Gregory Allowe as managing director for Naples Bay Resort, the luxury property that opened earlier this year in Naples, Florida. Sam Haigh, president and chief operating officer, made the announcement. “It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome Greg to the Benchmark Hospitality team at Naples Bay Resort,” said Mr. Haigh. “He brings a strong record of successes and vast hospitality experience to his new position.” Greg Allowe stated, "It is with extreme pleasure that I assume the leadership of Naples Bay Resort. I look forward to working closely with Benchmark Hospitality and the property’s ownership, enabling Naples Bay Resort to operate at its maximum potential." Allowe has served as vice president and managing director for The Townsend, a Preferred Hotel located in Birmingham, Michigan, and as general manager for the Nordic Hills Resort of Itasca, Illinois. Earlier in his career, Greg Allowe invested ten years with Hyatt Hotels, serving as director of operations for the company’s property in Schaumburg, Illinois. He also held key positions with Hyatt properties in New Orleans, San Francisco, Denver and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Allowe began his career with Hyatt in food & beverage operations and the rooms department.

Capella Singapore is pleased to announce the appointment of Alfred Tan as Director of Catering for the hotel, which opens March 2009 on Sentosa Island.  The 111-room luxury hotel, located just outside Singapore’s business centre, will be an unparalleled destination for premier social and business events such as weddings, meetings and corporate retreats. “Alfred’s wealth of luxury hospitality experience both in Singapore and abroad will prove indispensable as he leads Capella Singapore’s catering efforts,” said Bob Warman, Executive Vice President and COO, Capella Hotels and Resorts. A native of Singapore, Alfred’s appointment marks his return to the hospitality sector following a post as associate director of sales and marketing for Sirius Art.  Prior to this, Alfred served as the senior business development manager for Singapore’s Raffles The Plaza & Swissotel The Stamford. A four-year tenure with The Ritz Carlton Hotels & Resorts brand included management posts in conference services and catering with The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park in New York City and The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. Tan holds a degree from Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and a diploma from IHMES International Hotel School in The British Isles, UK.
