Travelling alone can be a daunting prospect for many women
Promoting safer travel for women
Monday, December 01, 2008
Approximately 60 million people travel alone each year (Travel guardian) and many of these people are women. Travelling alone can be a daunting prospect for many women and concerns over safety maybe a primary concern.
Here are some safety tips:

- Book hotel rooms on a floor other than the ground floor, preferably without a balcony to prevent easy access to intruders
- Always keep windows and doors locked and do check before you go to Sleep at night.
- Try wearing a money belt rather carrying a sophisticated handbag that can easily be snatched.Especially when you leave it on the floor next to your table when having a meal.
- Its safer to use a licensed taxi or taxi recommended by your hotel or Travel company representative and do book ahead if you can.
- Avoid conversation, eye contact and move away from unwanted advances.
- Try to dress conservatively to draw away from the fact that you are a tourist.
