Belgrade will be presented as the ideal destination for weekend breaks during FITUR’09
Serbia promotes its cultural tours
Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Spectacular cultural tours, winter sports, music festivals and cities such as Belgrade and Novi Sad, which are ideal for a weekend break, are the main attractions on show at the Serbia stand at FITUR’09. The capital, Belgrade, with its rich cultural offering and vibrant nightlife, will be the main attraction during FITUR’09 and will be presented as the ideal destination for weekend breaks alongside Novi Sad, the ancient capital of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, which is known as the Athens of Serbia. This city will showcase its main attractions including art galleries, museums, libraries and theatres.

The country will also promote its cultural tours, such as /Remains of the Roman Empire/, which explores Serbia’s many fortresses, palaces and cities and /Castles of the Danube/. Serbia also has formed part of the Romanesque Route since 2007, thanks to five large Romanesque monasteries located within the Balkan country: Zica, Studenica, Gradac, Djurdjevi Stupovi and Sopocani.

Serbia will also promote winter sports and outdoor activities at FITUR/09, highlighting the possibilities offered by Kopaonik, one of the country’s top ski resorts which, along with other less well-known areas, are a paradise for lovers of hiking, fishing, rafting and outdoor activities during the summer months, thanks to their mountains, lakes and spectacular natural environment.

Professionals can also discover other proposals such as wine tours, boat tours, bird watching, rural tourism, local flora and fauna and the country/s biggest music festivals, such as the Trumpet Festival in Dragacevo or Exit, which brings together 150,000 people each year.
