Travel insurance sales show credit crunch is not affecting holidays

Travel insurance provider Insurefor.com has released its latest sales figures for mid December 08 to mid January 2009, which show that despite the credit crunch people are still travelling.
Over a five week period the broker increased sales by 37% on travel insurance policies with the most popular being for short trips of 11 days or less to Europe. Antony Martin, MD commented “It seems that despite the credit crunch people are still enjoying luxuries including holidays and not just in the UK but to Europe and beyond. Most of the policies we sell, with the exception of annual, are for trips within the next few weeks although we cannot forecast for 2009, early signs are encouraging. “Ski insurance has seen the biggest growth and we can attribute this to the excellent snow conditions in Europe. “
Annual policies for Insurefor match those of single trips, highlighting the fact that many travellers intend to take more than one holiday in 2009. Martin continues “These figures are positive for the travel industry at a time when everyone is worried about further collapses of airlines and tour operators. January is always a peak time for us as people plan holidays and obviously it’s boosted by ski cover so we will be watching the coming months very closely. However we remain confident that our low costs and family policies which allow up to four children to travel per fully paying adult policy, will drive sales in the summer months and during school holidays.”
Insurefor.com specialises in travel insurance, offering a variety of policies to suit all from singles and families to over 65s, business, golf and ski.
