Couples four times more likely to have sex on holiday
Thursday, January 29, 2009
Research by www.sunshine.co.uk, the UK's fastest-growing independent online travel agent has found that 74% of British couples have sex at least once every other day on holiday, compared to home life where just 19% of couples confess to the same.

Couples on holiday are nearly four times more likely to engage in sexual activity with each other than when at home according to research of 1,489 people, with the vast majority of Brits, 74%, confessing to sex at least once every other day on holiday. Nearly half, 46%, admitted to having sex with their partner once a day or more during time away, whilst just 21% claimed to have sex three times a week or more otherwise, when not on holiday.

According to the largest separate study undertaken of sexual behaviour, 32% of British adults are classified as low sexual frequency (less than once a month) practitioners, 44% as medium sexual frequency (between once monthly and twice weekly) practitioners and only 19% as high sexual frequency (three times a week or more) practitioners. This means that for many Brits, going on holiday dramatically changes their sex life, if only for the period of time they are away.

When asked "if you engage in more sex on holiday than when at home, why do you think this is the case?" the top 5 responses were as follows:

1. Less stress 61%
2. More time together 43%
3. Weather/atmosphere 32%
4. Not as tired 25%
5. Alcohol 16%

Cash-strapped Brits will be glad to know that the majority, 63% don't thinkthat destination is an issue when it comes to bringing you together as a couple, instead citing "time away" as the main factor.

Chris Brown, Managing Director of sunshine.co.uk had the following to say, "Going on holiday with your partner is a great way to become closer, as these stats prove! The fact that 'less stress' is mentioned as the primary reason couples feel closer to each other shows what a tough time we're all having in the UK at the minute. Time away together is the perfect way to escape it all, even if only for a few days somewhere within the country."
