SynXis steps into Scandinavia
Norwegian chain of historic hotel properties selects SynXis to increase online presence
Monday, February 02, 2009
SynXis, the Sabre Holdings business that provides complete hotel distribution and Internet marketing services globally, announced that De Historiske - Historic Hotels and Restaurants of Norway has switched to SynXis’ RedX Distribution Management System to help achieve its online revenue strategy and meet the increasing  demand for e-commerce tools.  The group will use the Guest Connect booking engine to merchandise its 37 unique and distinguished properties across Norway.

De Historiske needed technology to help grow its online presence while giving its property managers the flexibility to market each property to a diverse customer base.  De Historiske cited several reasons for making the switch to Guest Connect including: dynamic packaging to increase revenue per booking, promotional pricing to help fill need periods and the multiple currency and language functionality to attract the international traveler.

“Recently we have experienced a growth in demand and interest in our product that required a booking engine whose capabilities could meet a variety of different customer and property needs,” said Nils Henrik Geitle, managing director of De Historiske group. “Guest Connect can accommodate both our individual property’s needs as well as our brand. With features like multi-property search we can promote cross-selling, and the possibility to create itinerary bookings will allow shoppers to book multiple reservations or properties with one booking.”

“Having De Historiske select SynXis for their internet distribution is an important sales win for us as we expand into the Scandinavian market,” said David Meltzer, vice president of global sales for SynXis. “Not only have we gained a prestigious hotel group in this region, but SynXis is also confident that De Historiske’s distinctive portfolio has gained a distribution partner that can help them meet their goals and diversify their customers’ shopping experience through the intuitive Guest Connect booking process.”

De Historiske - historic hotels & restaurants - is a unique membership organization containing many of Norway’s most charming, independent and family-owned hotels and restaurants. A very specific definition of the responsibilities of the proprietor is given to qualifying properties, whose guest experience must offer a relationship with history as a large part of its setting. In addition to the group’s 37 hotel properties there are also 18 restaurants making up its portfolio.
