Provides 26 flights a week between Birmingham and the Isle of Man
Eastern Airways celebrates 5th year on Isle of Man route
Friday, February 20, 2009
Good old-fashioned customer service, day return flights and some of the UK’s highest levels of on-time performance have helped Eastern Airways provide the Midlands with a reliable year round service from Birmingham to the Isle of Man for the last five years.

The UK regional airline, consistently rated Birmingham International Airport’s best on-time performer, offers schedules and timings aimed at the business community, particularly those in the financial services sector, as well as great choice for leisure travellers visiting the Isle of Man and the Midlands.

Eastern Airways provides 26 flights a week between Birmingham and the Isle of Man. Most businesses, including financial institutions and life assurance industries are located in the island’s capital, Douglas. The Isle of Man has long established holiday towns in Peel and Port Erin, along with dramatic coastlines and it’s also home to the world’s largest waterwheel and the world famous TT motorbike races.

The airline, which was formed 11 years ago at its Humberside Airport base in North Lincolnshire, first started flying the Birmingham – Isle of Man route in 2004 when British Airways CitiExpress withdrew its services.

Eastern Airways has continued to build a loyal following in the Midlands with its punctual flights and its cabin crew provide a friendly, personalised service to customers, including a fully inclusive onboard service.

Roger Hage, Eastern Airways’ ground services manager, said: “Reliable, regular transport links are vital for business and we’ve provided a dependable air service to the Isle of Man for the last five years. Our timings enable Midlands’ business travellers to avoid overnight stays, while our punctual flights and attentive onboard service, which is often regarded as reminiscent of the golden age of travel, help us to deliver high levels of service to our customers.”

Peter Vella, business development director, Birmingham International Airport, said: “Eastern Airways is an asset to Birmingham International Airport as a full service carrier that really does offer business passengers all that is needed for their trip, especially reliability and punctuality.  We are delighted to have worked with Eastern Airways on the Isle of Man route and look forward to many more years of partnership.”

There are no additional costs for hold baggage or choice of seat and fast check-in is offered as the airline’s passengers can also use a dedicated fast track security channel to avoid queues at Birmingham Airport when flying to the Isle of Man. A high frequency service to Newcastle is also offered by Eastern Airways from Birmingham.
