Hyatt Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Grand Hyatt Doha, a hotel and residential complex, which is the latest addition to Qatar’s luxury hospitality offerings and the first Hyatt hotel to be built in the country.

Situated in Doha’s new West Bay Lagoon district, Grand Hyatt Doha is located on 38 acres (155,000 sq m) of idyllic beachfront and offers 249 well-appointed guest rooms along with 91 private residences. The hotel is located just minutes from the city’s financial and commercial centers, and places of cultural and historical interest, including the newly launched Museum of Islamic Art. Business and leisure travelers to the area will find it convenient to the Doha International Airport, only 12.5 miles (20km) from the property.

The hotel, with its magnificent old-world exterior design and modern furnishings, will provide the highest quality accommodation to the growing numbers of domestic and inbound visitors discovering Doha as an ideal destination for business, meetings, culture and sport.

“As one of the world's top three energy centers, Doha has quickly become a major global business destination, making it a natural fit for the scale and style of Grand Hyatt. The hotel and residences are situated in Doha's stylish West Bay area, and will provide both local and visiting guests with many firsts, from personalized service to luxurious accommodation. We look forward to introducing the world's business community to Qatar's unique version of Arabic hospitality,” said Peter Fulton, managing director, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts – South West Asia. HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates, a leader in hospitality interior design worldwide, is responsible for the hotel’s unique design. Key features include spectacular public spaces, an oversized atrium, and a grand lobby featuring a floor-to-ceiling, 55 ft (17m) glass window. The property also offers three outdoor swimming pools, one indoor swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness center, and a large day spa. Grand Hyatt Doha is set along a private quarter-mile (400 meter) beach.

The property’s locally inspired interior architecture recreates the traditional elegance of an Arabian palace with palatial entryways and public spaces. Lighting plays a key role in highlighting certain elements - creating moods and changing scenes throughout the day and night. Qatari-based artist, Nijenbandring De Boer, has been commissioned to produce paintings inspired by local scenery and traditional art, which are featured prominently in the hotel.
