Star Clippers to position three ships in the Mediterranean
Wednesday, April 22, 2009
Star Clippers will position its entire fleet of three tall ships in the Mediterranean for the 2010 summer season, offering the broadest possible range of itineraries to both repeat and new customers.

In the spring of 2010, Royal Clipper, Star Clipper and Star Flyer will reposition from their winter homes in the Caribbean, Far East and Tahiti respectively to begin the Mediterranean sailings. Star Clipper will operate Greece and Turkey voyages round-trip from Athens, while Royal Clipper will maintain its popular itineraries round-trip from Civitavecchia (Rome) and between Rome and Venice. Star Flyer is scheduled to sail seven-day round-trip Monaco itineraries, as well as eastern Mediterranean and Turkey cruises from the Greek island of Rhodes.

The biggest change to the 2010 sailing schedule is the repositioning of Star Flyer from Tahiti, where it has been based year-round for two years. “Although the Tahiti sailings have been very successful, we thought it prudent in this challenging economy to bring all three ships closer to where our guests reside and have them sail itineraries with proven success,” says Mikael Krafft, owner and president of Star Clippers. “Redeploying Star Flyer to the Mediterranean with the other two ships ultimately will make taking a Star Clippers voyage more affordable for our guests.”

There is, however, still time to enjoy a Star Clippers cruise in the South Pacific. Star Flyer will continue its Tahiti itineraries until February 21, 2010, after which it will make a Grand Pacific Crossing from Papeete to Panama City. The ship will then sail a Panama Canal cruise that ends in St. Maarten in the Caribbean, followed by a trans-Atlantic crossing to Lisbon. Once in the Mediterranean, Star Flyer will offer three, four, seven and 14-night voyages.
