Park Hotel Group’s latest property in Singapore
Park Hotel Clarke Quay Soft opens
Monday, May 11, 2009

A whole new hospitality experience has arrived in Singapore’s vibrant lifestyle enclave of Clarke Quay with the soft opening of Park Hotel Group’s latest property – Park Hotel Clarke Quay. Distinctive by its striking red-tiled roof and towers with spires, the 10-storey hotel is set to redefine the skyline of Clarke Quay. Located at the historic Singapore River, the hotel exudes classic colonial architecture reminiscent of Singapore in the early 1800s. DP Architects, who were behind Park Hotel Clarke Quay’s unique design, were inspired by Singapore’s Victorian-style architecture of that era.

“The architecture of Park Hotel Clarke Quay presents a celebrative architecture that has its roots firmly planted in the history of Singapore. Yet at the same time, it conveys a sense of joy and pleasure of the life that is ever present along the Singapore River,” said Mr Tai Lee Siang, Director of DP Architects.

“While Clarke Quay is very vibrant at the street level, Park Hotel Clarke Quay brings back the romanticism to the skyline and a dreamlike quality with its turrets.”

The light structural expression of the building mimics the cast-iron architecture of the colonial era. A clay roof topped by three spires crowns the modern yet ornate facade of the hotel. The charm of Park Hotel Clarke Quay starts with the grand porte cochere. Visitors are ushered into the contemporary yet Old World elegance-inspired grandeur of the lobby. The 336 rooms and suites are designed with a view of the Singapore River, offering the comforts of modern living. Outside, slender pillars with balustrades artfully frame the windows.

For dining and entertainment, Brizo Restaurant & Bar raises the bar with its seafood offerings cooked in both Western and Asian styles as well as weekend breakfast available till 4pm. The all-day restaurant offers both indoor and alfresco seating. Park Hotel Clarke Quay also features a swimming pool complete with pool bar, gym facilities and Spa Park Asia, offering an outdoor spa experience. From the pool deck, guests can enjoy the splendid architecture of Park Hotel Clarke Quay in full view. Strategically located along Clemenceau Avenue/ Unity Street, the hotel is just minutes away from Singapore’s premier shopping belt, Orchard Road, as well as the Marina Bay shopping belt, and in close vicinity to the financial district and theatres. It is also within walking distance of heritage-rich Civic District and nightlife hub, Clarke Quay.
"We have been growing through acquisitions these past few years, taking over hotels and introducing our Grand Park and Park Hotel branding. Park Hotel Clarke Quay is our first new-build hotel, representing the embodiment of our Park Hotel brand attributes," said Mr Allen Law, Director, Park Hotel Group. "Next year when we launch Grand Park Orchard in Singapore, the Group's flagship hotel will showcase our Grand Park branding as we envision it."

Park Hotel Clarke Quay is Park Hotel Group’s third property in Singapore, after Grand Park City Hall and the upcoming Grand Park Orchard (opening 2010).
