Bill allowing Greek entry to Visa Waiver Program submitted to Congress
Tuesday, May 12, 2009
A bill allowing Greece to join the visa waiver program was submitted to the US Congress. The said program allows citizens of specific countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for up to 90 days without having to obtain a visa. The bill was submitted by Republican lawmaker Gus Bilirakis and Democrat Carolyn Maloney after a letter was submitted on a proposal by senator Robert Wexler (Dem-Florida), with the signatures of 41 senators, to the US Secretaries of State and Homeland Security for the promotion of Greece’s entry into the program.

On its part, AHEPA, the biggest organization of Greeks living in the USA and Canada, expressed its satisfaction over the bill’s submission.
