Aiming to expand to the Far East, the Middle East, India and the USA
Rhenus becomes Lufthansa cargo business partner
Friday, May 15, 2009
Rhenus Freight Logistics GmbH & Co. KG signed a cooperation agreement with Lufthansa Cargo AG at the beginning of May. As a result, Rhenus one of the preferred partners of the freight carrier in Germany and also reinforces its own transatlantic expertise.

Rhenus opted for the partnership with Lufthansa Cargo because both companies represent high-quality flexible and reliable service. Lufthansa Cargo is one of the world’s largest air freight companies and its expertise lies in flying cargo from one airport to another. The increasingly important medium-sized business sector is one of its major strategic focuses and top customers in this segment are looked after within the scope of the “Business Partnership Program”.

Rhenus is able to introduce these kinds of customers to the partnership scheme because the family-run business has excellent links to medium-sized companies, particularly in Europe. “Our customers obtain reliable and high-quality services for their air freight in return,” says Marc Oedekoven, Managing Director of Air Freight Germany at Rhenus Freight Logistics. “We benefit from the global network of routes and the professional handling provided by Lufthansa Cargo.”

As they work together, both companies are aiming to expand particular routes, especially to the Far East, the Middle East, India and the USA. Rhenus will increasingly convert its processes to electronic accounting systems too.
