One of the hottest outside favourites for this year’s Wimbledon Championships has been given a boost by Air Europa. The Spanish airline has signed a sponsorship agreement with the tennis player Feliciano Lopez. Lopez is ranked 30 by the ATP, Association of Tennis Professionals, and like Air Europa, is a rising star in his field.

Lopez will travel with Air Europa to compete in tournaments throughout the tennis season. He will also represent the airline and become an ambassador of the company's image. "I am very happy to be on the side of Air Europa. It is an honour to be the face of Air Europa, a company with values such as strong commitment and dedication,” said Feliciano Lopez.

Feliciano Lopez reached one of the most important milestones of his career last year, after lifting the Davis Cup in Argentina. Lopez, 28, played a key role in the Spanish victory, winning his singles match against the Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro, and his doubles match, in which he and Fernando Verdasco defeated David Nalbandian and Agustin Calleri.

Air Europa, Spain's second largest airline, recently launched a new London Gatwick to Madrid route. The flight is timed to connect with onward flights to South America and the Caribbean. Routes fly from London Gatwick via Madrid to Havana, Caracas, Cancun, Punta Cana, Santa Domingo and Buenos Aires.
